The 1786-RPFRL module is an Allen-Bradley repeater module that is designed to be installed in an Allen-Bradley ControlNet network fiber media system. The 1786-RPFRL repeater module is a fiber repeater module that uses fiber cables to communicate. It can draw a backplane current of up to 570 milliamps during operation. Because of this high backplane current rating, only 1 or 2 modules of this kind can be installed on a repeater adapter at a time. The 1786-RPFRL repeater module is one of the only Allen-Bradley ControlNet repeater modules that can support the ring network topology, which is a topology that provides 2 data paths that are part of a single ring in order to provide network redundancy. This topology allows as many as 5 repeater modules to work with a single repeater adapter, and it can support as many as 20 long-distance or extra long-distance repeaters.
