The Allen-Bradley 1786-RPFM module is a ControlNet repeater module. It is a fiber repeater module designed for medium distances and it is designed to be used when a medium distance fiber network is required between 2 ControlNet nodes. The maximum distance supported by the 1786-RPFM is 3000 meters. The total permitted attenuation through the fiber link, including the connectors, splices, and fiber cable, is 13.3 dB. Fiber media offers 2 benefits which are ground isolation between adjacent nodes and reduced noise susceptibility compared to copper media. Up to four 1786-RPFM modules can be attached to a 1786-RPA repeater adapter. Additionally, the total power consumed by four 1786-RPFM modules connected to a repeater adapter should not exceed 1.6 Amps at 5 Volts DC. The repeater adapter and modules could be damaged if the power limit is exceeded.
