The Allen-Bradley 1786-RG6F cable is a ControlNet high-flex coaxial cable. Allen-Bradley also provides a standard coaxial cable which has the catalog number 1786-RG6. The standard cable has an attenuation rating of 5.99 dB per 1000 feet and the flexible cable has an attenuation of 13.5 dB per 1000 feet. For this reason, the total distance of a ControlNet segment is reduced when the high-flex 1786-RG6F cable is used. Therefore, the amount of high-flex cable used in the network must be kept to a minimum. Allen-Bradley recommends use of BNC bullet connectors or TNC connectors to isolate the areas that require the high-flex 1786-RG6F cable from network areas that require standard coaxial cable. This also helps during troubleshooting because the high-flex cable can be replaced without disturbing the standard cable.
