About 1791-16A0

The Allen-Bradley 1791-16A0 Discrete 16-Input Block I/O Module is a standalone remote input module that is designed and manufactured by Allen-Bradley to be used as a remote interface for the connection of 16 independent discrete input AC signals from actuators, limit switches, regular switches, solenoid valve,s or any other discrete AC signal existing in the end users’ applications. The Allen-Bradley 1791-16A0 Discrete 16-Input Block I/O Module needs to be connected to a 120 Volts AC power source and it provides the users with 16 AC-powered discrete inputs divided into 2 groups of 8 inputs each that are able to withstand a nominal input current of 11 milliamps each. The external power source connected to the device should have a voltage range between 85 Volts AC and 132 Volts AC, with a total nominal current of 150 milliamps.

The dimensions of the Allen-Bradley 1791-16A0 Discrete 16-Input Block I/O Module are 6.95 inches high x 2.7 inches wide x 3.85 inches deep (176.5 millimeters high x 68 millimeters wide x 98 millimeters deep). Its operating temperature range is between 0 and 60 degrees Celsius (32 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit). The Allen-Bradley 1791-16A0 Discrete 16-Input Block I/O Module has a maximum power dissipation rating of 8.9 Watts and a maximum thermal dissipation rating of 30.35 BTU per hour. The external conductors coming from the field devices are wired directly onto the module by using screw terminals with a wire size of 14 AWG (2 square millimeters). Communications between the module and the central programmable logic controller in the system are established through the RIO serial protocol and the wiring on the corresponding markings assigned to the module's terminals.

The Allen-Bradley 1791-16A0 module is an electronic I/O module known as a discrete input block I/O module that is compatible with legacy PLC systems such as the PLC5. This module works as a remote, standalone I/O interface and includes its own power source.
