The Allen-Bradley 1791-0A16 module is a Block I/O module. More specifically, the 1791-0A16 Block I/O module is an AC-powered output module with 16 output points or channels. This device is small and self-contained. It comes with its own power supply, signal conditioning circuitry, and a programmable controller interface. The 1791-0A16 output module is rated for 120 Volts AC voltage. It is compatible with many different controllers, including programmable controllers from the PLC-2, PLC-3, PLC-5, and PLC-5/250 series and the modular controllers from the SLC 5/02 series. The 1791-0A16 output module can connect directly to the programmable controllers from the PLC-3, PLC-5, and PLC-5/250 series, but it needs scanners to connect to the PLC-2 programmable controllers and the SLC 5/02 modular controllers.
The Allen-Bradley 1791-0A16 Block I/O module comes with an equipment grounding stud and with a switch assembly located directly behind the front cover. To access the switch assembly, remove the cover first. It also has LEDs that are status indicators for each of the outputs. These LEDs can easily let the operators know which outputs are active and whether any of them are experiencing errors.
