The 8520-SPRO is an integral part of Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation's 9/Series CNC system, and it is a member of the Allen-Bradley 8520 series. This device is a sub-processor board that was engineered to manage input signals and output signals within a control operator panel in a 9/Series CNC system. The 8520-SPRO board draws power from the control operator panel's power supply, which is rated at 24 Volts. The 8520-SPRO board has a weight of approximately 300 grams. Its primary function is to handle various tasks related to the processing of input and output signals within the CNC system. It can work in tandem with the main processor board in the CNC system and with a feedback resolver. The 8520-SPRO board must be installed and used in the correct type of setup to ensure seamless performance and prevent any potential system lag. To facilitate seamless communication with different CNC system devices, the 8520-SPRO board establishes connections through serial and parallel ports known as ports A and B, and it uses high-speed Fiber I/O cables. For consistent and efficient operation, the 8520-SPRO must be securely mounted on a heat sink, which dissipates heat during operation. It is imperative to shield the 8520-SPRO board from challenging environmental conditions, including extreme heat, humidity, liquids, dust, vibrations, and shocks. In some environments, the 8520-SPRO board may need to be installed in an enclosure with a NEMA rating of 4/12 to operate safely. This small sub-processor board ensures that the whole CNC system operates properly by controlling the input and output signals for the system’s control operator panel.
