The 8520-MPRO is a central processor board used in computer numerical controls (CNC) systems. It is part of the Allen Bradley 9 series of modules, which are frequently used in CNC systems. The 8520-MPRO serves as the system's principal data processing point. This processor is fueled by a 12 volts auxiliary logic power source that is connected to the main power supply through a 3-phase incoming alternating current (AC). The 8520-MPRO, sometimes known as a 9/230, contains 65 ASRN chips and, like a 9/series processor, is resolver-based. It houses the CNC logic and connects to the 9/series fiber optic I/O ring, serial ports A and B, E-Stop connectors, and a video connection. There is option chip, RAM SIMMS, flash SIMMS, R-I/O LED, and serial ports A and B processors available. When connecting this module to the motherboard, place the cable shield clamp over the exposed braided shield (make sure the clamp screw is under the clamp and not on the braided shield). After that, tighten the clamp screw. It is critical, however, not to overtighten the clamp screw; doing so might cause catastrophic damage to the braided shield and other sections of the unit. The user should follow this solid-state construction of the Allen Bradley manual installation guide. The 8520-MPRO is commonly employed in contexts requiring precise motion control, such as robotic assembly, packaging, and machine tooling. Additionally, it finds utility in other applications that need high speed and throughput, such as printing and conversion processes. The 8520-MPRO central processor board can operate between 0 and 65 degrees Celsius (32 and 149 degrees Fahrenheit).
