The Allen-Bradley 5069-IY4 Analog 4-Channel Universal Input Module is a solid-static electronic board that can be used in Allen-Bradley Programmable Logic Controllers or PLCs such as the CompactLogix 5380, Compact GuardLogix 5380, and CompactLogix 5480 PLCs in order to receive incoming analog voltage, current, thermocouple, or RTD input signals from field devices. The Allen-Bradley 5069-IY4 Analog 4-Channel Universal Input Module has 4 independent, non-isolated channels which can operate with differential and single-ended input signals with no need for additional configuration because the module automatically adapts to the input type that it is being connected to. All the wiring to the module is connected to removable terminal blocks (RTBs) which are sold separately, and the necessary power for the module to operate can be provided from the PLC adapter or from an external device connected to the I/O module.
The Allen-Bradley 5069-IY4 Analog 4-Channel Universal Input Module should be installed in the first available slot to the right of the PLC backplane. Hot-swap operations are not available for this device, and thus it is strongly recommended to disconnect all of the power sources attached to the device prior to its installation in its designated place. All of the information pertaining to the electrical connection of external devices to the Allen-Bradley 5069-IY4 Analog 4-Channel Universal Input Module is provided in detail in the installation manual. The operating temperature range for this module extends from 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit). If the environment where this module will operate will face more extreme temperatures outside of the recommended range, the manufacturer recommends installing a climate control system or forced ventilation system.
