The Allen-Bradley 5069-SERIAL 5069 Compact 5000 Serial I/O Module is a serial I/O module from the 5069 Compact 5000 I/O system. The 5069-SERIAL Serial Module provides 2 independent serial network interface channels (RS-232C, RS-422, or RS-485) for interfacing any serial-enabled devices that are connected on the Generic ASCII, Modbus RTU/ASCII (Master/Slave, DF1, or the DH-485 protocol. Each interface channel is capable of transmitting data to and receiving data from serial devices that are communicating on these network protocols. The 5069-SERIAL Serial Module is installed locally on the Allen-Bradley CompactLogix 5380, GuardLogix 5380, or the CompactLogix 5480 systems, or it can reside remotely on the ControlLogix 5580 and the GuardLogix 5580 controllers and it is accessible over an EtherNet/IP network by using the Compact 5000 EtherNet/IP adapter.
The 5069-SERIAL Serial Module has a MOD power rating of 100 milliamps and a MOD pass-through rating of 9.55 Amps at 18 to 32 Volts DC operating voltage range. It also has a sensor/actuator (SA) power pass-through rating of 9.5 Amps at 18 to 32 Volts DC range and a maximum SA and MOD current draw of fewer than 10 Amps. The front-side features include 4 front-panel indicators that show the communication status, the module’s health, and the input/output devices status, as well as troubleshooting anomalies. The module also features a rear-side interlocking side piece that helps secure the module to the system and a DIN rail latch that secures the module on the DIN rail. The 5069-SERIAL Serial Module has an open-style design and a recommended operating temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius.
