The Allen-Bradley CompactLogix 5380 controller known as the 5069-L3100ERM controller is designed for monitoring and controlling industrial application processes in a wide range of applications such as motion control, process instrumentation variable control in closed and open loops, and discrete alarm and safety indicator systems applications. This Allen-Bradley 5069-L3100ERM CompactLogix 5380 controller is designed for DIN rail installation, and comes from the factory furnished with communication options which allow it to control local I/O modules or remote I/O modules and take advantage of its EtherNet/IP network connection capability. Integration into an EtherNet/IP network is easy to configure by selecting 1 of 2 modes which are the Dual-IP mode or Linear/DLR mode. When the Dual-IP mode is selected, each of the controller's Ethernet ports is assigned a specific IP address, allowing them to be connected into different subnets. With the Linear/DLR mode, both ports are connected into the same network.

The Allen-Bradley 5069-L3100ERM CompactLogix 5380 Controller has a maximum user memory capacity of 10 MB and it can operate with up to 31 independent Local I/O modules. That user memory capacity enables the Allen-Bradley 5069-L3100ERM CompactLogix 5380 controller to effectively monitor and control 32 continuous tasks and up to 1K periodic tasks, by using local or remote I/O ports to connect field sensors, actuators, or other similar devices to the controller for different applications. Such a high number of continuous and periodic tasks can only be managed by a stable and high-speed controller, and this high-speed controller has a message rate capacity of 2K messages per second.
