The Allen-Bradley 1788-CNC Logix 5000 ControlNet Daughter Card is a communication card designed for linking the Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 700S drives and the FlexLogix programmable controllers with DriveLogix controllers and with other communication-enabled devices that are linked to the bus (EtherNet Network). This communication module belongs to the Allen-Bradley Logix 5000 control system. This communication card also provides the FlexLogix processor with the ability to monitor and control I/O modules that are remotely connected to the controller via the ControlNet network. The 1788-CNC Daughter Card offers versatile functionalities that include support for I/O bridge operation, high-speed data transfer via data tags, simultaneous communication with other bus nodes, direct local access via the Network Access Port (NAP), coaxial media module support, and the use of the 200 Micron-rated communication cable.

The Allen-Bradley 1788-CNC Daughter Card has a maximum backplane current draw of 450 milliamps at 5.0 Volts DC and a total power dissipation rating of 2.3 Watts (7.68 BTU per hour). It comes in an open style enclosure, and it offers a wide operating temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit). The 1788-CNC Daughter Card has a front-panel ControlNet connector that connects to a communication cable with a V-pin connector. When the 1788-CNC Daughter Card is used with the FlexLogix system, it provides the system with the ability to bridge messages from other networks such as the Ethernet, DeviceNet, and RS-232 serial networks. The 1788-CNC Daughter Card has multiple front-panel LED indicators that show both the module and network statuses. The 1788-CNC Daughter Card is designed for use within a 5 to 95% (non-condensing) relative humidity level. It weighs approximately 0.1 kilograms and is C-TICK, CSA, and CE certified.
