The Allen-Bradley 1788-FBJB4R Foundation Fieldbus Redundant Junction Box is a Fieldbus junction box from the Logix 5000 control system family. This Fieldbus junction box provides a simplified and fault-tolerant method of wiring Fieldbus networks. The 1788-FBJB4R Junction Box is designed to connect up to 4 devices to the Fieldbus network, and it comes with a dual trunk input and output port for configuring the Foundation Fieldbus configurations. The 1788-FBJB4R Junction Box constantly monitors each of its drop-line port bus current lines for a fault condition, and if a fault is detected in any of the field device’s ports, the current to the faulted port is limited only to safe current. Even when there is a faulted port, all of the other connected field devices on the bus will continue to communicate.
The Allen-Bradley 1788-FBJB4R Foundation Fieldbus Redundant Junction Box is configured with front-panel DIP switches which allow the operators to enable or disable the built-in bus terminator and to configure a timed auto-reset function and an auto-balance control in a ring topology. Also on the front panel of this module are status and diagnostic LED indicators and a reset button for resetting all trip indications on either the device or trunk ports. The 1788-FBJB4R Junction Box requires an external Class 2 DC power supply for operation. This power source provides 950 milliamps backplane current in the 18 to 32 Volts DC supply voltage range, and it has a maximum current rating of 0.4 Amps at 24 Volts DC. The 1788-FBJB4R Junction Box comes in an open-style design, and it has an operating temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius.
