The 1788-EN2PAR linking device has been designed and manufactured by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation as a member of the 1788 linking device series. It can link the ControlNet network and the Ethernet network to industrial Profibus PA devices. The 1788-EN2PAR linking device is designed to be a fast and integrated device in its host system. It links Profibus PA devices to any industrial Logix platforms, and it can connect the Profibus devices to the Ethernet/IP network without needing to use a Profibus DP layer as an intermediate device. The 1788-EN2PAR linking device helps its host system to be streamlined and efficient. One 1788-EN2PAR linking device can use intelligent junction boxes to connect field devices to a power supply and a ControlLogix controller in an Ethernet/IP network. This device needs an Ethernet/IP address with the Ethernet/IP network.
The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 1788-EN2PAR linking device can be configured by the Studio 5000 Logix Designer application, but it must be added to the I/O tree and to an Ethernet bridge module. Note that with the Ethernet interface, the 1788-EN2PAR linking device can only process Class 2 data. The 1788-EN2PAR linking device needs a single power source that supplies DC power in the range of 24 Volts DC to 32 Volts DC. The system LCD can also show data about the linking device and other devices connected to it.
The Allen-Bradley 1788-EN2PAR linking device is compatible with all of the Logix platforms. It can be configured with an Ethernet/IP address to connect to the Ethernet/IP network.
