The Allen-Bradley 1606-XLS480F Power Supply is a member of the 1606 Power Supply series that is able to employ 200 to 240 Volts AC power from the electrical power grid to generate and sustain a stable DC power level in a range between 48 and 56 Volts DC. The steady-state input current rating of the Allen-Bradley 1606-XLS480F Power Supply is 4.56 Amps at 120 Volts AC and 2.48 Amps at 230 Volts AC. The users need to use a 10 Amps slow-blow fuse known as the 1489-A1C100 fuse which is sold separately in order to provide short-circuit protection for this power supply. Overcurrent protection appliances can also be added and they must be sized by the users to make sure that they fit the power supply. Parallel operation of this power source with any other power source is allowed, and output voltage monitoring through a “DC OK” relay is provided from the factory.

The Allen-Bradley 1606-XLS480F Power Supply has been designed to operate with an operating temperature between -25 and +70 degrees Celsius (-13 to 158 degrees Fahrenheit). If it is installed in an industrial environment with lower or higher temperatures than the it is rated for on its own, the manufacturer recommends that the users install the appropriate type of climate control system which also includes humidity control and air filtration features in order to prevent external debris or dust particles from penetrating the power supply module's protective cover. The Allen-Bradley 1606-XLS480F Power Supply’s simplified circuitry, its small size, and its low weight make it an ideal low-cost solution for providing power to application processes that need a 48 to 56 Volts DC operating voltage range.
