About 1606-XLPRED 

The 1606-XLPRED power supply module is a decoupling redundancy power module that is part of the 1606 series of power supplies by Allen-Bradley. This module comes from the 1606 accessory line and it is designed to be used with the standard power supply unit in a system and it provides different functions. This module has been designed to operate with a power supply that is rated at 24 Volts DC nominal and that comes with an adjustable voltage range of 24 to 28 Volts DC. At the same time, it employs an output current range of 1.8 to  2.1 Amps and an output power of 50 Watts. The Allen-Bradley 1606-XLPRED decoupling redundancy module's main function is to build redundant systems and provide protection against back-feed voltages.

The Allen-Bradley 1606-XLPRED decoupling redundancy module needs to be mounted on a DIN rail along with the main power supply module. It is easy to install and use, but it is recommended to have a technician perform both the installation and the set-up. The Allen-Bradley 1606-XLPRED decoupling redundancy module comes with LEDs that are status indicators for different conditions and errors. The green LED lights up when the module starts reversing power from other power supplies around it. The 1606-XLPRED decoupling redundancy module is not protected from problems such as internal short circuits in the power supply. Some recommendations for protecting the module when using both the main and redundancy power supplies together are to include separate fuses for each power supply, to monitor the individual power supply units, and to connect the power supply to different networks.
