Allen-Bradley engineered the 140M-J8E-D16 is a molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) with several exceptional features that make it useful for usage in industrial settings; it is specifically designed to protect motors against overloads and short circuits. There is thermal protection, manual switching, magnetic protection (both branch circuit and short-circuit features), and a disconnect feature for motor branch circuits. In the unexpected event of a short circuit, the 140M-J8E-D16 motor circuit breaker provides circuit protection, controls short circuit current, and features a short circuit trip signal. The short circuit signifier distinguishes between a short circuit and an overload trip. Furthermore, the 140M-J8E-D16 motor circuit breaker avoids the need for backup fuses and can be put safely near a power transformer. In the event of a short circuit, the 140M-J8E-D16 circuit breaker is inexpensive, making it simple to convert to starting combinations with type-2 synchronization. Other advantages, such as current-dependent, adjustable delayed bimetal release, are offered that protect against overloading, a practical design that saves panel space, and a wide operating temperature range. This circuit breaker has passed all of the testing, which signifies that the device is safe for users during a short circuit.
