The Allen-Bradley 1203-GK1 module is a Remote I/O communications module whose main objective is to work as an optional interface. It has been designed to provide a digital link between any compatible Allen-Bradley programmable controller and any Allen-Bradley SCANport product. Each product that is designed to be connected to the Remote I/O communications module requires a pre-installed module to connect to. The Remote I/O 1203-GK1 module comes with a NEMA type 1 enclosure that has been designed for non-hazardous environments. It is also recommended to install this communication module in a clean environment. Ventilation is also important since overheating can cause damages to the equipment.
The Allen-Bradley 1203-GK1 Remote I/O communications module requires a power supply of 24 Volts DC with a tolerance of +/-10 percent. This module can be mounted on a DIN rail and it can be connected to a SCANport product by using a SCANport cable, whereas for the Remote I/O link, it will require a Remote I/O cable. The board of this module can be mounted directly onto the selected SCANport product. This module enables the users to connect SCANport products to Remote I/O links and devices through different features such as DIP switches, LEDs report links, and SCANport product health. The Allen-Bradley 1203-GK1 Remote I/O communications module operates with a current of 0.4 Amps maximum and a SCANport current of 60 milliamps with DC voltage. It is meant to be used with an Allen-Bradley controller through a SCANport connection with baud rates of 57.6K, 115.2K, or 230.4K baud.
