The ABB 6246BP10820 electronics assembly is a 115 Volts AC/125 Volts DC electronics assembly for the 6246BP10810 I/O block. The second major component of the 6246BP10810 block is a terminal assembly with catalog number 6246BP10830 that connects to the 6246BP10820 electronics assembly. The 6246B I/O blocks are isolated I/O blocks designed for interfacing with discrete AC and DC sensors and actuators. The 8 I/O channels on the blocks are divided into groups of 2, with each group having independent control power terminals for a 115 Volts AC or 125 Volts DC rated power source. The terminals for the I/O channels are designed to accept either two 14 AWG wires or one 12 AWG wire. The I/O channels on the 6246B I/O blocks can be configured as inputs, outputs, or tri-state inputs.

 

An input channel which is used for open wire diagnostics must have a 5.1 kiloohm resistor rated for 0.5 Watts or a larger non-inductive resistor installed across the input device. Each I/O channel on the 6246B block has its own LED indicator. The I/O channel LEDs require the application of block power for operation. For the input channels, the LEDs display the voltage status at the circuit terminal. For the output channels, the LEDs display the output state of the smart switch which is set through commands. A high voltage BSM is required when the 6246B blocks are used as BSM controllers. The humidity around the 6246B blocks must be maintained between 5 and 95%. The ambient temperature around the block and its components like the 6246BP10820 electronics assembly should not exceed 140 degrees Fahrenheit. The vibration rating for the 6246BP10820 electronics assembly and the I/O blocks as a whole is 5 to 10 Hertz with 0.2 inches of displacement.
