Technical Information

The 6231BP10810 Analog I/O Block is a 4-input, 2-output current source analog I/O block that is made by ABB. It is a complete I/O unit that has an electronic assembly as well as a terminal assembly. The terminal assembly and the electronic assembly of this module can also be ordered separately. This I/O Block acts as the interface between connected devices and it provides or receives 4 to 20 milliamps rated current signals, and it can pass these signals to or from a programmable logic controller or PLC. The output channels are the first 2 channels. They are numbered as Channels 1 and 2. The inputs are numbered as Inputs 1 through 4. The 6231BP10810 Analog I/O Block weighs 4 pounds and it has 12 Watts of maximum heat dissipation during operation.     

 

The 6231BP10810 Current Source Analog I/O Block comes with 2 indicator LEDs to visually indicate the status of the device operation. Some of the features of this module include linear scaling of values, input alarm detection, the hold last state function, CPU redundancy, and advanced diagnostic facilities. It provides 1500 Volts of block to block isolation and 300 Volts of group to group isolation. The 6231BP10810 Analog I/O Block can be also configured as a 24/48 Volts DC bus switching module. Each input channel is equipped with an isolated 24 Volts current loop power supply and 4 connections which are the excitation, input, common, and ground connections. The 2 output channels of this module are electrically common to each other. To independently control the current in a range from 0 to 24 milliamps, the module uses a dual 12-bit digital to analog converter. The features of the module can be configured by using a hand-held monitor.
