Technical Information

The 6203FP10900 Bus Switching Module or BSM is a 115 Volts AC and 125 Volts DC BSM made by ABB. It is used to connect I/O devices to the serial busses in a system. It can connect up to 8 I/O units with up to 2 serial busses at the same time. This module also supports a CPU redundancy setup. The input voltage range of the module is 90 Volts AC to 130 Volts AC or 95 Volts DC to 150 Volts DC. It draws a minimum of 40 milliamps of current and a maximum of 60 milliamps of current at 115 Volts AC voltage. The current requirement at 120 Volts DC is 12 milliamps. The 6203FP10900 Bus Switching Module has less than 20 milliseconds of switch active time and 70 milliseconds of switch release time.             

 

The 6203FP10900 Bus Switching Module comes with a variety of features including simple and reliable operation functions, I/O block controllability, hand-held monitor compatibility, and an LED indicator.  A Phase B hand-held monitor is recommended to configure the module. The reliability rating of the module is a minimum of 500,000 operations. This unit can also be controlled by a CPU or handheld monitors that can be used to switch buses. The 6203FP10900 Bus Switching Module must be connected with an output circuit for controlling the switching operation of the module. It can be removed from the system easily by switching off the terminal assembly to which the BSM is attached. Removing the device while the system is operating can disrupt the communications on the bus. The dimensions of the module are 3.5 x 2.25 x 2.5 inches. Prefabricated cables in 15-inch and 36-inch lengths can be ordered separately for the bus stub wiring.
