SNP to RS-232 Adapter + cable for personal computer 9-pin serial port

Technical Information

Horner Electric manufactures the HE693SNPCBL cable as an RS-232 adapter cable made for GE Fanuc Series 90-70 devices. It is equipped with 2 ports. One is the SNP 15-pin plug that directly connects the CPU to the PLC programmer port on the rack power hub. The power is supplied to the SNP at a maximum of 5 Volts DC voltage and 100 milliamps of current. The other port is the 9-pin plug that connects to the RS-232 device. The 90-degree cable exit in the device enables the simplification of cable routing. When active, both the receiver (RX) LED indicator and the transmitter (TX) LED indicator on the HE693SNPCBL cable blink green. This cable is DCD enabled with a device known as a career detector that is made to control the RS-232 signal for serial communication between a PC and the modem to ensure there is no breakdown or termination in communication. For IBM-compatible PCs, this cable is used together with an XT pinout adapter with a 25-pin port for internal wiring.

The Horner Electric HE693SNPCBL RS-232 adapter cable has an RTS+ output and a clear-to-send input (CTS-), which collectively raises and lowers the flow control mechanism lines on the device drivers to ensure that the control code is maintained between the transmitter and the receiver. The RS-232 adapter cable has to pull down and pull up resistors that are shorted together to 1K ohms. The pull-up function is used to set the digital pin to the logical level (5 Volts, for example) while the pull-down function sets the digital pin to default to as low as 0 Volts. The RTS devices in the HE693SNPCBL RS-232 adapter cable react in response to the command from one node in order to transmit the data to another node.
