Horner APG Isolated Analog Current Input Modules has four analog input channels with 14-bits of resolution. The isolation levels for this unit are channel-to-channel and channel-to-ground. This module converts the current input signals to digital values which are placed directly into the %AI table of the PLC CPU. Each of the four channels of the module may be configured for an input range of 4-20mA or +/-20mA. Each of the four channels of the module has a programmable setpoint (the level of which is set in the PLC program via four %AQ output registers). When the analog input value reaches or exceeds the setpoint, a corresponding digital input %I is energized. The first four %Is represent the four input channel setpoint alarms respectively.

  • Question: What is a HE693ADC415? Answer: The HE693ADC415 provides four input channels with 14 bits of resolution.
  • Question: What is the main power supply for the HE693ADC415? Answer: The main power source for this unit comes from ADC415: 120mA @ 5V 150mA @ 24V or ADC420: 200mA @ 5V 100mA @ 24V which is supplied by the PLC power supply.
  • Question: How can I minimize capacitive loading and noise? Answer: Shielded, twisted-pair extension wiring offers the best noise immunity.
  • Question: Where should the shields be connected to? Answer: Wiring needs to be routed in its own conduit. Shielded and twisted pair extension wiring offers the best noise immunity. If shielded wiring is used, a good earth ground connection at one end is critical. If shields are grounded at the module end,  terminals 9, 10, 19, and 20 on the ADC415, or terminals 1, 2, 11, and 12 on the ADC420 need to be used as the shielded connection points.
  • Question: Can I change the number of channels or the voltage on this device? Answer: Yes, you can. This is a 4 channel unit.
  • Question: What is a good way to test the HE693ADC415? Answer: The best method to test this unit is to use a milliamp generator to probe each channel for consistency and stability.
  • Question: How to tell if your HE693ADC415 is faulty. Answer: Reference the response to each channel. Check for consistency and stability in the I/O tables.
