GE Fanuc manufactures the IC695ETM001 Ethernet interface module as part of the RX3i PACSystems series. This unit is designed and intended to enable controllers in the RX3i PACSystems series to interface with the VersaMax, Series 90-30, and other controllers over the Ethernet Networks. It features an Ethernet Interface that can operate at 10/100 Mbps and that can sense the speed and the type of cable connected. A pair of twisted cable measuring up to 100 meters in length is used to connect network nodes at 10 Mbps. Additionally, a Category 5 twisted-pair cable with a length of 100 meters is used to connect the network nodes at 100 Mbps. The IC695ETM001 Ethernet interface features an Ethernet port that supports the use of full-duplex and half-duplex nodes. Additionally, both straight-through and crossover Ethernet cables can be used for the network connections. This Ethernet interface module supports 1 MAC address along with 1 IP address. It comes with an embedded Ethernet switch that enables the daisy chaining of the Ethernet nodes.

Another notable feature of the GE Fanuc RX3i PACSystems IC695ETM001 Ethernet interface module is an RS-232 serial port. The IC695ETM001 interface module supports data rates ranging from 1200 bps to 115,200 bps. It has an integral station manager function that is accessible via Ethernet and Serial connections, and it also offers supervisory access. Among the services that the station manager function provides are commands for controlling and polling the station, password security, and access to the monitoring logs, configuration parameters, and statistics. How to Go Online with an RX3i PLC via Ethernet Cable When the MAC ID Sticker on IC695ETM001 is Missing

Description

To configure an IP address in IC695ETM001 module when one is not assigned, the “Set Temporary IP address” utility is used in Machine Edition. The assigned MAC ID address of the ETM001 needs to be entered in this utility. But if the MAC address ID sticker on the module was lost, how can one go online with PLC via Ethernet cable?

Resolution

An IP address can be configured on the ETM001 Ethernet Interface with the missing MAC Address sticker this way:

  1. Install the ETM001 in slot 3 which does not have the MAC address ID sticker, then insert another ETM001 in slot 4 which has a MAC address ID sticker. Connect the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet interface in slot 4.
  2. If the IP address of ETM001 in slot 3 should be 192.168.1.1, use the “Set Temporary IP address” tool to set temporary IP address of the ETM001 in slot 4 to be 192.168.1.2. Then go online with the ETM001 in slot 4 using that IP address.
  3. Download the hardware configuration to the controller, assigning IP address 192.168.1.1 to the ETM001 in slot 3.
  4. Remove the ETM001 in slot 4, then connect the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet interface on ETM001 in slot 3. Now go online with the module using IP address 192.168.1.1.

To identify the MAC ID of ETM001 in slot 3, “Wireshark network protocol analyzer” or “Station Manager” can be used.
