Product Description

The IC695CPE305 is a 1 GHz CPU from the GE Fanuc PACSystems RX3i Series.  It comes equipped with an RS-232 serial port and an embedded Ethernet interface, as well as 5 MB RAM (user memory) and 5 MB of non-volatile flash storage memory.

The controller module supports up to 512 program blocks, each of which can be as large as 128 KB. You configure IC695CPE305 over your Ethernet network using Proficy Machine Edition software. As with other programmable logic controllers in this product family, you can program this one in any of four different programming languages (Ladder Diagram, Structured Text, C, or Function Block Diagram). The IC695CPE305 CPU can also interpret the Serial I/O protocol, the Modbus RTU Slave protocol, and the SNP Slave protocol.

Labeled LED indicators on the unit housing can be green, red, off, or blinking when the unit is powered up. This makes troubleshooting efficient, and lets you verify system status at a glance.

IC695CPE305 can be installed in any pair of slots in the main RX3i controller rack except for the slots with the two highest numbers on them. The  unit has a Universal Serial Bus (USB) port, but that port supports only the transfer of application data; it is not designed to support a "permanent" connection. Similarly, because IC695CPE305 has less user memory than other CPUs in the RX3i Series, if your operations routinely require you to transfer large files, you might consider using a CPU with more user memory instead (other CPUs in this product family have twice the memory of IC695CPE305).

Technical Specifications

Serial Protocols: Modbus RTU Slave, SNP Slave, Serial I/O
Embedded Comms:  RS-232

The IC695CPE305 CPU is an RX3i PACSystems central processing unit that is manufactured by GE Fanuc. Its dual PCI/Serial backplane provides the operators with the facilities to allow their systems to communicate with intelligent option modules and I/O modules in their systems. It also provides facilities to transfer applications through USB 2.0, A-type removable data storage devices. This module offers an embedded Ethernet interface with a maximum of 2 programmer connections. The Ethernet interface comes with a 10BaseT RT-45 port with an Ethernet data rate of 10 or 100 MB per second. The IC695CPE305 CPU has a dual backplane that supports the RX3i PCI and Series 90-30 style serial busses.

The IC695CPE305 Central Processing Unit comes with 5 MB of non-volatile flash user memory. Its internal serial port or Ethernet port can be used to communicate with the programmer module. An optional energy pack can be used with this CPU module to write user memory to the non-volatile storage when the system power is interrupted. The energy pack can be mounted on the left side of the module in Slot 0 of the rack. This module can accommodate any amount of user memory by using its auto-located symbolic variables. The important specifications of the IC695CPE305 module include a power requirement of 3.3 Volts DC at 1 Amp or 5 Volts DC at 1 Amp for different applications, a Boolean execution speed of 0.072 milliseconds per 1000 Boolean instructions, an RS-232 embedded serial communication port, a real-time clock with a battery with an estimated life of 5 years, and dual backplane support. It is used to monitor and control machines and application processes in real-time.

IC695CPE305's Real Time Clock Kept By RTC battery - IC690ACC001, Not By Energy Pack

Description

IC695CPE305 working with Energy Pack, RAM data will be kept after power cycle, but not Real Time Clock.

Resolution

The IC695CPE305 is shipped with a real time clock (RTC) battery IC690ACC001 installed, customer need to remove the pull-tab on the battery before the installation of the module to let it work.

Note:

The RTC battery has an estimated life of 5 years and must be replaced every 5 years on the regular maintenance schedule.

RX3i IC695CPE305 - Controller Error 8097 during download [0x05][0xE8] [0x801B0006]

Description

When downloading to RX3i IC695CPE305 with Profinet Controller (IC695PNC001) the following Error message may be observed in the feedback zone:

---------- Download to Controller not completed ----------

Error 8097: Controller Error - No user memory is available to allocate [0x05][0xE8] [0x801B0006]

Download Aborted - 1 error(s), 0 warning(s)

Tip: Press Shift+F3 to cycle through errors; F4 to cycle through errors and warnings.

Resolution

This is known to occur with RX3i CPE305 that has a Profinet controller configured with at least 1 RX3i Profinet Scanner (IC695PNS001 or IC695CEP001) configured in the hardware configuration mixed in with other Profinet IO devices (GE-IP or 3rd party). As long as there is at least one of these mentioned two scanners, this issue may occur.

The is due to the CPE305 only supporting 5MB user memory. The Profinet GSDML files for the two mentioned scanners exceeds the total user memory available, hence will not fit inside a CPE305 controller.

One solutions is to upgrade to a larger CPU such as CPE310 or greater or keep the existing CPE305 and apply SIM-2 for PME 8.60, read further.

As of PME 8.60 SIM2, this issue has been resolved via a new feature to compress the hardware configuration size permitting the application to successfully download to the PLC.

This is done via a new PLC target property setting called " Compression Level ".

Right click on PLC target and the inspector window will show the following new feature:

Normal is the default setting and Moderate is the enhanced version that allows the download to PLC. Change to Moderate and then perform the download again.

Refer to PME help topic "Compression Level" for Important Operational Notes when working with other instances of PME that do not support enhanced compression. From menu bar > Help > Search > type in "Compression Level" with quotes > List topics
