Product Description

The IC660BBA101 is an Input Block in the GE Fanuc Genius I/O Series. Its rated voltage of 115 VAC/125 VDC. The purpose of this block is to monitor temperature input from Resistive Temperature Detectors (RTDs). Two types of RTD blocks available include 15 VAC/125 VDC RTD Block IC660BBA101 and block IC660BBA 124/48 VDC RTD. The only difference between the two is power supply. IC660BBA101 detects temperature changes as low as one-tenth of a degree. One important feature is the six RTD compatible inputs arranged in three sets of two inputs per piece. Input sets are completely isolated and independent. These independent input circuits are used with RTDs made from copper, platinum, or nickel.

Like other RTD Input Blocks in this series, IC660BBA101 is self-regulating. A multiplexer is assigned to switch the A/D converter between RTD inputs and reference resistors. Block IC660BBA101 measures resistance from 0 - 5,000 ohms. To configure the block for processing data in Fahrenheit, Celsius, ohms, or counts, a handheld monitor is required. IC66HHM501D is perfectly compatible with block IC660BBA101 and can also be used in block setup and control. Features of this block include configurable input filter time, linearization, alphatype, RTD resistance, and alarm thresholds. Do not re-calibrate your RTD block; it is factory-calibrated. Automatic diagnostics on the block include open wire detection and internal fault detection. The user may disable or enable fault reporting circuit-by-circuit.

IC660BBA101 block performs circuit diagnostics. It alerts the user when calibration readings are not tolerable or when connections between RTD and the terminal assembly are incorrect. Faults are reported to both the handheld monitor and the CPU. However, the user can configure the block circuit by circuit to report faults to the handheld monitor. It is not necessary to clear most fault conditions because they rarely interrupt block functions. The user must clear High or Low Input Alarm faults before detection can restart. Because input filter time RTD blocks are factory-calibrated, they do not need successive recalibration. Installation and run-time errors like input short detection, inner fault detection, wiring error detection, and/or open wire detection can automatically be identified by IC660BBA101 block automatic diagnostics.

The IC660BBA101 block is an RTD input block manufactured by GE Fanuc to be used as a resistive temperature detector or RTD. It belongs to the Genius I/O series and it comes with a total of 6 input channels. It has its 6 input circuits in 3 groups with 2 circuits per group and with a group to group isolation voltage rating of 300 Volts and a block to block isolation voltage rating of 1500 Volts. The IC660BBA101 RTD input block features nickel, copper, and platinum RTDs, and the CPU of this module is capable of receiving input data in various units such as counts, Ohms, and degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit. This RTD input block is factory-calibrated to offers configurable features like the linearization and RTD resistance This unit comes with 2 LED indicators that show the operational status of this module and when faults occur.

The GE Fanuc IC660BBA101 RTD input block supports automatic diagnosis for the common run-time and installation errors that includes internal fault detection, high and low input alarms, and open-wire detection. This unit offers both high and low alarm thresholds for setting specific input channel level limits. The shipping dimensions of this RTD input block module are approximately 8.83 x 3.34 x 3.91 inches and this block weighs about 4 pounds at shipping. The RTDs on the block need to connect to input devices with SIG and RTN terminals to enable the use of various input devices. There is a handheld monitor which enables the operators to configure different parameters of the IC660BBA101 RTD input block like the fault reports, active channel settings, and input filter time parameters.

Customer Questions and Answers

  • Question:  What is an IC660BBA101?  Answer:  The IC660BBA101 is an 115 VAC/125 VDC RTD Input Block of the GE Fanuc Genius I/O Series. This block monitors temperature inputs from Resistive Temperature Detectors (RTDs).
  • Question:  What is the difference between IC660BBA101 and IC660BBA021?  Answer:  The only difference between these blocks is their power supply.
  • Question:  Can I use the IC660HHM501 Hand Held Monitor for the configuration of IC660BBA101?  Answer:  Yes, you can.
  • Question:  What should the baud rate be set at when configuring this block?  Answer:  It should be set at 153.6K standard.
  • Question:  When I press the leads against "in" and "return", what should be happening?  Answer:  You should be looking for a reading and if all the values of all your settings are the same then all your reading should be the same. (Tip: Make certain that all the screws are screwed down very tight to make sure the connections can happen accurately.)
  • Question:  When you have the CPU in run mode, what should happen?  Answer:  The Enabled LED should come on to let you know the block is enabled. This also means that the port is communicating. It lets you know the block is working properly and if you want to, you can force the inputs and outputs off or on using Proficy Machine Edition.
  • Question:  What would indicate something is wrong with my IC660BBA101?  Answer:  If you power it up and it doesn't have any lights on at all, then your IC660BBA101 may need repair
