48VDC Pos./Neg. Logic Input, 16 Point, Grouped MDL641 Field Control IC670 IC670MD IC670MDL

Technical Information

The GE Fanuc IC670MDL641 module is a positive/negative input module manufactured as part of the GE Fanuc Field Control series. This module has a rated voltage of 48 Volts DC, an input voltage range of 0 to 60 Volts DC, and user input current of 2.5 milliamps per point at 48 Volts DC. It has a user input to logic/frame ground isolation of 250 Volts AC continuous and 1500 Volts AC for 60 seconds. However, this module has no isolation between the individual input points in a group. The IC670MDL641 discrete input module comes with 1 LED indicator per point for showing the status of the different input points. Additionally, it has the “PWR” LED that indicates the presence of the backplane field  power. This module provides 16 discrete inputs that are all in one group, and they can all be powered by negative or positive logic.

The GE Fanuc IC670MDL641 input module operates on power drawn from the BIU or Bus Interface Unit, with a 48 Volts DC external power source that is used to run input devices. This module features a network of capacitors, Zener diodes, and resistors for providing input filtering and establishing input thresholds. It also has optoisolators for providing the isolation between the field inputs and logic components. Other notable module operation features include the switch and oscillator for creating a sampling circuit transparent to the controller. When the IC670MDL641 input module is in operation, the data from all 16 inputs is fed into the data buffer. It features parallel-to-serial converters that convert the data buffer input data to a serial format through the Bus Interface Unit.
