Technical Information

The IC670CBL002 cable is a 21-inch I/O expansion cable manufactured by GE Fanuc as part of the Field Control series. This I/O expansion cable is suitable for use in place of a standard inter-base cable that requires more space between the bases than the expansion cable does. For each station, only one cable can be used, while the remaining connections can be made using shorter connectors that come with the bases. The IC670CBL002 I/O expansion cable connects the I/O base with another I/O base or with the Bus Interface Unit (BIU) base. This cable must be installed to enhance the consistent flow of data directly from one base to another. The cable connects the bottom of a particular base with the top of another base for bases that are oriented in the same direction, especially when using a shorter cable.

 

When installing the IC670CBL002 I/O expansion cable, the corners of the protective labels should be removed to give access to the terminal block cable connectors. Also, these connectors must be keyed to ensure that they are correctly installed. For proper noise immunity protection, both drain wires should be connected to the chassis ground by the use of a DIN rail clamp or by placing a ring terminal on each drain wire as well as by attaching each of the ring terminals to the mounting plate by using a star washer and a screw. For the installation of a module over the IC670CBL002 21-inch I/O expansion cable, it is recommended that the users fit the edge of the module enclosure into the groove in the cable strain relief system.
