Technical Information

The DVT-535C Sensor is a Cognex color vision system sensor and camera. It is manufactured as part of the Cognex DVT Vision Sensors series, the Cognex DVT Color Vision System Sensors series, and the Cognex DVT Legend series. Designed as a machine vision sensor, this device functions as a set of mechanical eyes for an industrial machine. Through the sensor’s vision data, this machine can inspect products for defects. It also detects the presence and absence of machine parts, reads codes, and takes measurements. The DVT-535C Vision Sensor works is designed to offer visual data to machines seamlessly. The machine ‘eye’ in the sensor is designed to look for changes in contrast and use the 2D plane to find these contrast changes.

 

The Cognex Vision Tools are designed to tell machine cameras how they should evaluate the different changes in contrast and what directions they should follow to assess these changes. The DVT-535C Vision Sensor is a hardware tool designed to ensure quality in gathering data, in manufacturing, and in the provision of information to all the levels of an industrial application. The sensor collects the information from the image then evaluates it by using the user-defined rules it is programmed with. Since the actions of the camera depend on the contrast changes that it senses, it is essential to adjust the lighting when using the DVT-535C Vision Sensor so that the camera can operate consistently and accurately. The data that it gathers can be in the form of device-level data like inspection values that are sent to the PLC.

 

The DVT 535C color image sensor offers 80% higher speed, 4 times the memory, better imaging, and better communications options than the DVT 535 sensor model. The DVT 535C color image sensor is designed for the automotive and consumer electronics industries. When used in conjunction with the Intellect 3.1 software, the sensor is able to find the orientation of objects, locate objects on a shiny base or background, and increase operating speed by up to 4 times the regular speed in the translation-only mode. The DVT 535C color image sensor can be used to gauge concentricity by the bushing, gauge gaps between the bushing and metal, and detect the presence or absence of bushing inserts. For automotive connector applications, the DVT 535C color image sensor can be used for automotive connector feature inspection and verify that the insertions inside the connector are correct. When used with the Intellect 3.1 software, the sensor can locate objects at 300 ppm and it allows for model editing, including the removal of background segments.
