Technical Information

The 8MMIR sensor is an 8-millimeter vision sensor manufactured by DVT Cognex Vision. It is an IR lens and it comes with an IP 65 protection rating. This sensor is used for different purposes including defect detection, measurement taking, and reading codes. It is water resistant and it can be used for outdoor applications. The sensor is CE certified and designed for global usage. The vision sensor is compact in size and it is portable. It is powered with a 24 Volts DC power supply and it has a current rating of 210 milliamps. It has a power output rating of 5 Watts. The vision sensor needs an additional 1.25 Amps of current if an LED strobe light is used in a specific application. The 8MMIR sensor uses a 15-pin high density D-sub connector that carries the digital I/O and the power lines. 

 

The 8MMIR sensor uses an RJ 45 Ethernet connector for internal network support and communication. It also supports the RK 12 cable for RS 422 communication. The sensor can be mounted by using 4 M4 threaded holes. The sensor weighs 170 grams. The 8MMIR sensor can be connected to a PC for configuration management. It requires a  PC with a basic processing speed requirement of 400 Mhz and the Windows operating system. During installation, the RS 45 digital I/O and power cables are connected to the sensor and the other end of the connector can be connected to the breakout board. The 8MMIR sensor has LED indicators on the side that illuminate when there is power and activity from the sensor.
