Other Available Revisions for the 1746-NIO4V 1746-NIO4V//A
The Allen-Bradley 1746-NIO4V is an Analog Combination I/O module for enhancing SLC 500 control systems. It is a module within the SLC 500 controllers which offers a unique and easy to use interface, featuring two input channels and two output channels. The combination of the input and outputs in the same module allows for expansion in a space- and cost-efficient manner. The input channels are user-selectable by switches found on the analog control module. To configure the inputs to current, move the switch in the ON position. To configure for voltage inputs, move the switch to the OFF position. Channels are not individually isolated.
The 1746-NIO4V backplane current draw is 55mA for 5V and 115mA for 24V power. At normal operation, the 1746-NIO4V has an input range of -20 to +20 mA. The absolute maximum input current ranges from -30 to +30 mA. The absolute maximum input voltage ranges from - 7.5 to + 7.5V dc. The step response for the voltage output of the 1746-NIO4V is 2.5 ms at 95%.
When installing the 1746-NIO4V make sure to position the module in the chassis nearest the bottom of the enclosure where the SLC 500 system is installed. If installed in a modular system, then position the module away from the chassis power supply. Take caution when wiring the 1746-NIO4V by using a shielded communication cable (Belden #8761) and only connecting one end to earth ground. Additionally, attempt to keep the cable as short as possible and use a power supply which matches the transmitter specifications.

The 1746-NIO4V module is manufactured by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation as an analog combination module that features 2 inputs and 2 outputs. It is part of the Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation SLC 500 product line. It draws its power for operation from the backplane of the SLC 500 system that it is installed in, and it can draw different amounts of backplane current at different backplane voltage ratings. For example, at a backplane voltage rating of 5 Volts DC, the 1746-NIO4V analog combination module can draw up to 55 milliamps of backplane current, and at a backplane voltage rating of 24 Volts DC, this module can draw up to 115 milliamps of backplane current. This module is a single-slot module.
The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 1746-NIO4V analog combination module from the SLC 500 series has 2 outputs that use voltage only, but its 2 inputs can use voltage or current and the users can program the inputs to use either type of power depending on what they need for their applications. Neither the inputs nor the outputs on the 1746-NIO4V analog combination module are individually isolated. The inputs can be configured with DIP switches. The 4 I/O channels on the 1746-NIO4V analog combination module are identified with number 0 to 3, and the inputs are Channels 0 and 1 while the outputs are Channels 2 and 3. The voltage ranges that the inputs on the 1746-NIO4V analog combination module can support are 1 to 5 Volts DC, 0 to 5 Volts DC, 0 to 10 Volts DC, and -10 to +10 Volts DC.
The Allen-Bradley 1746-NIO4V analog combination module comes with 2 input channels and 2 output channels. It is manufactured as a member of the SLC 500 controller series.
