Other Available Revisions for the 1746-NIO4I 1746-NIO4I//A
The 1746-NIO4I by Allen Bradley is an analog combination module in the SLC 500 series. This module has four total analog channels; in a single slot module, it has two (2) inputs and two (2) outputs with a common voltage mode of -20 to 20 Volts. The common rejection module signal at 60 Hertz is 105 dB; its normal rejection mode signal at 60 Hertz is 55 dB. Its backplane current draw at 5 Volts is 55 mA, whereas with 24 Volts, it increases to 145 mA. This module must receive both 5 and 24 Volts of power from the backplane source of the SLC 500 setup; some similar modules may require an external power source, but the 1746-NIO4I will not work with one.
The 1746-NIO4I contains two (2) current (or voltage) inputs that can be selected by the user per each channel, as well as two (2) current outputs.
It also includes two individual switches (labeled as one (1) and two (2)) which control the input mode that channels 0 and 1 operate in. In its “ON” state, the channel is configured for current input, where in the “OFF” state, it is configured for voltage.
This unit’s input channels are monitored to filter out high-frequency noises in order to provide at least a 14-bit resolution, or ideally a 16-bit. It has a 2.5 millisecond conversion rate and uses the sigma-delta modulation method for conversion.
At 25 degrees Celsius, the 1746-NIO4I module will have an overall accuracy of plus/minus 0.365% full scale. Anywhere else between 0 and 60 degrees Celsius, the overall accuracy is plus/minus 0.642% full scale. Its gain error is around 0.556% at its maximum between 0 and 60 degrees Celsius, dropping to 0.323% at 25 degrees Celsius. Its accuracy drift is approximately +79 ppm/degree Celsius of full scale, and its gain error drift is plus/minus 67 ppm/degree Celsius.

The Allen-Bradley 1746-NIO4I combination module is an industrial I/O module that has both input channels and output channels. It is manufactured as part of the SLC 500 series and it is an analog combination module. The 1746-NIO4I combination module features 2 analog inputs and 2 analog outputs. The input channels are Channel 0 and Channel 1, and the output channels are Channel 2 and Channel 3. The 1746-NIO4I combination module’s inputs can be configured with DIP switches. The inputs can be configured as current inputs or voltage outputs while the outputs are always current outputs. At 5 Volts DC backplane power, the 1746-NIO4I combination module draws 55 milliamps of maximum backplane current, and at 24 Volts DC backplane power, this combination module draws 145 milliamps of maximum backplane current.
The Allen-Bradley 1746-NIO4I combination module from the SLC 500 series has a tested isolation voltage rating of 500 Volts DC. When this combination module is being wired, the manufacturer recommends using shielded Belden #8761 cables with a maximum wire size or gauge of #14 AWG. The 1746-NIO4I combination module mounts on a removable terminal block that hosts all of the combination module’s wiring. The users do not need to calibrate the 1746-NIO4I combination module because it is calibrated at the factory. Its noise immunity rating is the NEMA Standard ICS 2-230 rating, which makes it suitable for most standard industrial environments and that it will not be affected by moderate levels of electrical noise. The 1746-NIO4I combination module’s operating temperature range is 32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit and its storage temperature range is -40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit.
The 1746-NIO4I combination module from Allen-Bradley has 2 inputs and 2 outputs and it is an SLC 500 module. It does not need to be calibrated because it arrives calibrated from the factory.
