The Allen Bradley 1746-IV8 current sourcing DC input module belongs to the SLC 500 Digital Module series. It has a voltage capacity of 24 Volts DC and 8 channel input points. The backplane current load at 5 Volts is 50 mA, with the module operating in a voltage range of 10 to 30 Volts DC. It has 0.2 Watts per point and thermal dissipation of 0.25 Watts at its minimum and 1.9 Watts at its maximum.
The 1746-IV8 is equipped with a self-lifting terminal plate that is connected to two 14 AWG cables. At 24 Volts DC it has an 8-mA nominal input current and a maximum signal delay of 8 milliseconds for both its ON and OFF states respectively.
Ensure that the device is powered off prior to its installation or removal. If the module is installed or removed while power is being applied, an electrical art may occur. In addition to causing possible injury, repeated electrical arcs will also wear out the contacts on the SLC module and the mating connector, and worn contacts will quickly lead to electrical resistance and unreliable product performance.
The 1746-IV8 has a maximum of 1 mA of current at 5 Volts DC in its Off state. It does not have removable terminal blocks but can withstand a maximum of up to 30g of shock during operation and up to 50g of shock when not in operation. Functionality remains constant at non-condensing humidity of 5 to 95%, while the LED indicators on the module will show various input statuses, which simplifies troubleshooting processes. The 1746-IV8 series availability is from A to D.
