The Allen Bradley 1746-IM8 is an SLC 500 Digital Input Module that is equipped with 8 input channels. It accepts one (1) input word and it is applied as a general purpose 220 to 240 Volt AC input device. It operates at a voltage range of 170 to 265 Volts AC at 47 to 63 hertz. The backplane current load stands at 50 mA at 5 Volts; at 24 Volts, it is 0 mA. The nominal input current is 240 Volts AC at 12 mA. The 1746-IM8 does not have a removable terminal block. It has 0.35 Watts per point with a minimum heat dissipation of 0.25 Watts and a maximum of 3.10 Watts; its signal delay is 35 milliseconds at maximum for its On state, and 45 milliseconds for its Off state. In its Off state, 2 mA is the maximum possible input current. If the inrush current requires limitation, a current limiting resistor can be applied.
 
The 1746-IM8operates in a temperature range of -13 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit and can be stored in temperatures anywhere from -40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit. It functions optimally in industrial environments with relative non-condensing humidity of less than 95%, can withstand vibrations of 1 G at 5 to 2000 Hertz, and can withstand a maximum shock of 30 G while in operation. Direct access can be gained using Ladder Programming Logic. The 1746-IM8 is class 1, division 2 certified by the CSA and UL. It weighs approximately one (1) pound and can fit in any slot on the chassis, excluding the 0 slot. Secure it firmly to the chassis with the provided self-locking tabs.
