The 1756-IF6I is an Analog Voltage/Current Input Module with an isolated input. It is manufactured by Allen-Bradley. It has 6 individual isolated inputs and belongs to ControlLogix series. It requires either the 20-pin 1756-TBNH or 1756-TBSH (RTB) removable terminal block housing. The available input resolutions are: +/- 10.5 Volts with a 343 µVolt/count, 0 to 10.5 Volts with a 171 µVolt/count, 0 to 5.25 Volts with an 86 µVolt/count, and 0 to 21 mA has 0.34 µAmps/count. The 1756-IF6I module changes analog signals into digital form for inputs and convert the digital form to analog signals for outputs. The controllers can use these signals for various control purposes. When the module runs beyond its limits set by the input range, the under-range/over-range detection feature becomes active. Line noise in the application can be removed using the analog-to-digital converter.
Real time sampling is another feature of the 1756-IF6I. During the configuration of a module, the requested packet interval and real time sampling period should be set. After setting these parameters, it scans its input channels and it collects all scanned data and then multicasts the data. It has a wire-off detection feature that indicates whether a wire has been disconnected from a channel or a terminal block has been removed from the module. The 1756-IF6I has a rate alarm feature to alert the users about the rate of change between input samples which exceeds the trigger point. Process alarms are placed to alert if a module is within its limit or not.
